This policy explains how Conveyancing Explained handles the personal information you give us when you use this website or submit an enquiry. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
Who we are
Conveyancing Explained is published by Play Forge Labs Pty Ltd (ABN 24 668 726 645), 365 Kent Street, Sydney NSW 2000 ("we", "us", "our"). We are an independent information resource — we are not a law firm or a licensed conveyancer, and we do not provide legal advice. This policy applies to the website conveyancingexplained.com.au.
What we collect
When you submit the enquiry form on this site, we collect the information you choose to provide:
- your name;
- your email address;
- your phone number (if you provide it);
- the service you are interested in and your location/state; and
- any details you include in your message.
We do not ask you to provide sensitive information (such as health information). Please do not include sensitive information in your enquiry. We do not collect payment details through this site.
If you only browse the site and do not submit an enquiry, we do not collect personal information that identifies you. See Analytics and cookies below.
Why we collect it and how we use it
We use the personal information you submit to:
- respond to your enquiry; and
- refer your enquiry to one or more independent legal partners (separate legal practices we work with) so they can contact you about the conveyancing help you asked about.
The main purpose of the enquiry form is to connect you with an independent legal partner. If you submit an enquiry, you consent to us disclosing the information in that enquiry to a legal partner for this purpose. If you do not want us to refer your details, please do not submit the form.
Who we share it with
We disclose the personal information in your enquiry to:
- Our independent legal partners — separate, independent legal practices to which we refer enquiries. They are different businesses from Conveyancing Explained and each handles your information under its own privacy policy once it receives your enquiry. Play Forge Labs Pty Ltd may receive a referral fee where a referred enquiry proceeds; this does not change the fee you would pay the legal practice.
- Our service providers — we use Google (Google Workspace / Google Sheets and Google Apps Script) to receive and store enquiry records, and Google to deliver referral emails. These providers process the data on our behalf.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not disclose it to anyone else except where required or authorised by law.
Overseas disclosure
Our service provider Google may store and process information on servers located outside Australia (including in the United States). Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles. Our legal partners operate in Australia.
Analytics and cookies
We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics tool, to understand how the site is used. Plausible does not use cookies and does not collect or store personal information or data that identifies you. It does not track you across websites or over time. This site does not use advertising or tracking cookies.
How we store and protect it
Enquiry records are stored in our Google account with access limited to the people who operate the site. We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access. We keep enquiry records only as long as needed for the purpose above or as required by law, and then take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify them.
Accessing or correcting your information
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@conveyancingexplained.com.au and we will respond within a reasonable time. There is no charge to make a request. If your enquiry has already been referred to a legal partner, you may also need to contact that legal practice directly about information they hold.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first at hello@conveyancingexplained.com.au so we can try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version, with its last-updated date, is always published on this page.
